About the Position
Altus Power is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified Junior SCADA Engineer to join its Energy Optimization team. The Junior SCADA Engineer will be responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic and telecommunication equipment associated with data acquisition, protective relaying, voice & data networks, fiber optic, and power control systems. The Junior SCADA Engineer will work to ensure uninterrupted operation and management of our systems for optimal performance. This position requires knowledge of solar technologies and its connections, both on the electrical and communication side and the ability communicate effectively with stakeholders, including internal teams and external vendors. The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated independent worker with ability to multitask between multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
· Ensures SCADA systems are available, secured and functioning at optimal levels
· Reviews and responds to reactive maintenance of hardware, communication, and electronic circuits and systems failures
· Interprets and modifies work for response to inquiries and issues with multiple projects
· Update or create documentation for site equipment, communication flow, and remote access, and continually work to improve our collective site documentation
· Ability to work beyond IT applications, such as industry-relevant applications like SQL databases, logic programming, and various meter and SEL products
· Be comfortable working mainly with computer technology while being on the phone with local engineers/subcontractors
· Identifies problems, research solutions for recommendation, and secures replacement equipment and parts with our Procurement Team
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science Engineering or related discipline
· Minimum of 2 years SCADA experience
· Excellent troubleshooting skills and an analytic mindset.
· Knowledge of TCP IP, serial, optical fiber, and wireless radio network structure.
· Knowledge of industry protocols, DNP3, Modbus, and OPC.
· Knowledge of Network, firewall, and VPN structure, and ability to troubleshoot them.
· Experience configuring routers, cell modems, and switches
· Up to 30% travel and troubleshooting in the field will be required.
· Proficient use of Microsoft office tools including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Power BI
· Experience using task management tools including but not limited to; MS Teams, Smartsheet, or others.
