About the Position
Altus Power is currently seeking a highly motivated individual with the skills, experience, and aptitude to serve as a Solar Designer. This position will report into the Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities:
Solar Designer is a member of the engineering team that would be responsible for complete project design and engineering including the following:
- Solar system size and production assessments using Helioscope or PVSyst or similar software.
- Utility’s Interconnection applications with initial design schematics and equipment specs.
- Full solar system design including layouts, single- and three-line electrical diagrams, all equipment selection and specifications (disconnects, metering, reclosers, transformers, switchgear, data acquisition systems), wiring details and sizing, protection, grounding details, DC and AC systems.
- Review and coordination of structural, racking, civil, topological , survey layers.
- Assistance during construction with any RFIs and equipment submittals.
- Existing assets design review and coordination of any required equipment updates or substitutions, repairs or repowering.
- Visit sites as required.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree; preference for electrical engineering.
- 2 years of experience designing C&I solar arrays in the 1 MW to 10 MW size, ground and roof
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD and NEC electrical code.
- Preference for 1 year in storage design, PV Syst, Helioscope
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
