About the Position

As VP of Community Solar Acquisition at Altus Power, you will be responsible for managing third-party acquisition company contracts and ensuring that all community solar gardens are fully subscribed. You will enact a backfill and waitlist program that works closely with market managers’ allocation strategies and build acquisition plans with the VP of Revenue Operations and the Origination team for new and prospective projects. Additionally, you will develop a commercial acquisition program as part of your role. This position requires a polished professional with an understanding of sales, strong communication and collaboration skills, attention to detail, high ethical standards, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Ultimately, as VP of Community Solar Acquisition you’ll ensure that Altus Power’s national portfolio of projects is fully subscribed, in compliance with local regulations, are well managed, and optimized to maximize profitability. This position requires a polished professional with an understanding of sales, strong communication and collaboration skills, attention to detail, high ethical standards, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Head of Community Solar.  

Responsibilities:

Residential Customer Responsibilities

• Third-Party Acquisition Company Contracting and Management: Oversee contracts and management of third-party acquisition companies to ensure alignment with Altus Power’s brand, goals and standards.

• Broker Relationship Management: As needed to ensure revenue is realized, customer brokers may be utilized and require management and contracting. Working closely with the VP of Revenue Operations plans to utilize a broker network will be determined.  

• Ensuring Full Subscription: Ensure all community solar gardens are fully subscribed.

• Backfill and Waitlist Program: Enact a backfill and waitlist program that works closely with Market Managers’ allocation strategies.

• Acquisition Plan Development: Build acquisition plans with the VP of Revenue Operations and the Origination team for new and prospective projects.

• Residential Customer Acquisition Strategy: Create and implement a multi-channel residential customer acquisition strategy, including digital marketing, channel sales, and partnerships, to maximize subscriber growth.

• Sales Process Optimization: Work with Digital team to develop and refine the sales process to improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction.

Commercial Customer Responsibilities

• Strategic Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with large employers, C-level clients, institutional real estate investors, municipalities, and other strategic partners to foster collaboration and mutual success.

• Client Acquisition: Identify and sign corporate partners as “anchor tenants” for Altus’s expanding community solar portfolio.

• RFP Management: Own and execute the “anchor tenant” RFP process, including responding to inbound requests from the partner network.

• Program Development: Work with existing corporate clients to expand the “community solar as a benefit” program. Collaborate with subscription and marketing teams to develop new partnerships and expand offerings across multiple states.

• Community Engagement: Explore additional opportunities for partnership and establishing a local presence, including participating in community events and qualifying sponsorship options.

• Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports on customer acquisition performance.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience, with a proven track record of success in a similar role

• Proven track record in leading high-performing customer acquisition teams  

• Deep understanding of customer acquisition strategies and tactics, including digital marketing, sales, and partnerships.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage data to drive decision-making.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Experience in building and managing budgets.

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
