About the Position
The VP of Revenue Operations at Altus Power plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial integrity and success of our community solar projects. This essential position ensures the accuracy and security of subscription revenue streams across our multi-portfolio, multi-state operations. As a leader within our Community Solar team, reporting to the Head of Community solar, you will directly impact our ability to drive sustainable growth and innovation in the community solar space. The VP of Community Solar Revenue Operations will develop strategies to optimize revenue collection, conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends and risks, and work closely with finance, legal, development, accounting, and digital teams to streamline processes and improve billing accuracy. Additionally, this role involves conducting audits to rectify revenue discrepancies, maintaining a database of utility bill credit rates, and monitoring third-party reports to ensure revenue recognition. The VP will also support ad hoc accounting and finance requests, provide reconciliation between revenue expectations and actual collections, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with all financial and legal regulations, commitments and standards.
Responsibilities:
• Revenue Optimization: Develop strategies to optimize revenue collection and minimize leakage, working with internal teams and subscriber organizations to implement best practices for billing, invoicing, and financial reconciliation.
• Financial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct regular financial analysis to identify revenue trends, opportunities, and risks. Manage executive dashboards demonstrating revenue expectations, collections, and other key performance indicators.
• Origination Review: Act as liaison between origination and community solar teams to ensure potential and newly acquired projects are positioned to generate expected revenue as laid out in model and prospectus.
• Risk Management: Conduct audits and assessments to identify and rectify revenue discrepancies. Develop internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, accounting, and digital teams to streamline processes and improve billing accuracy. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including internal controls.
• Support Ad Hoc Requests: Support ad hoc accounting and finance requests for key performance metrics, inputs for budgeting and forecasting, and other reporting as needed.
• Bill Credit Value Monitoring & Management: Maintain a database of historical utility bill credit rates by revenue class and monitor actuals against expectations. Provide regular updates to finance team to ensure validity of financial modeling and performance of models.
• Third-Party Monitoring: Monitor utilities and subscriber organizations for timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of reporting supporting revenue assurance, including bill credit reports, credit/revenue reconciliation reports, subscriber payments, aging reports, etc. Develop monitoring to ensure revenue recognition via collections, working with subscriber organizations to ensure completeness of collections.
• Report Reconciliation: Provide reconciliation between revenue expectations for actual production, subscription payments for each production period, and associated actual collections. Correspond with third parties to investigate root causes for discrepancies and see resolution on issues through to completion.
• Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual close: Support accounting in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close of books to ensure timeliness of reporting. Provide accounting support for auditor requests on community solar data and reporting, including subscriber organization operations and reports.
Requirements:
• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in revenue assurance, financial analysis, or a similar role, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency in software and data analytics tools such as Microsoft Dynamics and PowerBI.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capability is a must.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
